Provide input on City’s Parks, Recreation & Culture Master Plan: Nov 26 Event

The City of Port Alberni is creating a Parks, Recreation, and Culture Master Plan and is currently looking for input from community organizations and residents of all ages – to assess how well the proposed elements of the Plan reflect the community’s needs, and to identify what’s missing and prioritize proposed initiatives.

Please consider participating in one or both of the following engagement events on Wednesday, November 26 at Echo Centre, hosted by the City of Port Alberni:

  • Presentations and Q&A Session for the Parks, Recreation, and Culture Master Plan (PRCMP) and Transportation Master Plan (TMP): 4:30 – 6:00 pm (doors open 4:15 pm – registration required)
  • Connect With Your City Open House6:00 – 8:00 pm (open to all, childminding is available)

We encourage you to bring your child(ren) and youth to the open house, stopping by either before or after house soccer practice between 6:00 and 8:00 pm, as this is planning for their future.

The proposed Plan includes things like current conditions and future needs for the grass playing fields, and facilities, as well as the opportunity for the City to collaborate with the School Board, First Nations and others on shared high quality playing fields, such as a new lit field with synthetic turf.

Note that the current turf field is owned by the Pacific Rim School District and not the City of Port Alberni.

We look forward to having our Club members participate in this important planning process.
